The Fine Arts Club
The Fine Arts Club invites students grades 7-12 to join us at Feed My Starving Children Saturday Dec. 6th, 6:00pm-8:00pm at LaCroix Church,1625 N Kingshighway Cape Girardeau. Turn hunger into hope with your own two hands by packing nutritious meals for hungry children around the world. No school transportation provided- you must meet us there. SIGN UP WITH MRS. NASH BY FRIDAY 8:00AM.

FCA will meet during Advisory on Friday Dec. 5. Bring your Chromebooks and backpacks- it will last until the end of the hour.
A+
A+ students need to bring in their log sheets to Mrs. Elfrink so she can copy them and update your documented hours. As a reminder, completion of the FAFSA is a requirement for A+ scholarship eligibility.

TOYS FOR TOTS
Next week, December 8-12, the Student Council is hosting a Toys for Tots week! If at any time during the week you feel inclined to donate a toy, please place it under the Christmas Tree in the Lobby. There are corresponding dress-up days and specialty drinks available for $2 in the morning or at lunchtime.
Monday - Merry Monday - Pajama Day - Wear cozy PJs and warm up with a Peppermint Mocha Coffee in the Morning
Tuesday - Tinsel Tuesday - Deck the Halls - Wear tinsel, lights, bows, or anything sparkly, and purchase a Dirty Soda inspired by Santa's Sugar Cookie Recipe at Lunch
Wednesday - Winter Wednesday - White Out - Wear all white to look like snow and enjoy a Pumpkin Spice Latte that morning
Thursday - Tree Topper Thursday - Holiday Hats and Headbands - Santa hats, elf hats, reindeer antlers, cute bows, etc. are welcome. This is also the morning the Executive Council will be selling Hot Cocoa and Donuts for 0.50 each during breakfast.
Friday - Festive Friday - Ugly or Cute Sweaters are encouraged, as well as a final dirty soda inspired by the Gingerbread Man available at lunchtime.
HORATIO ALGER SCHOLARSHIP
The Horatio Alger Scholarship Application is now open for Juniors with a deadline of March 1 and for Seniors with a deadline of February 15. Some of the qualifications are: exhibit a strong commitment to pursue a complete bachelor's degree at an accredited non-profit public or private institution in the US, demonstrate financial need, be involved in co-curricular & community service activities, minimum GPA of 2.0. SENIORS/SENIOR PARENTS
Please be aware of the deadlines for admissions, housing, and scholarships for the colleges/universities your senior is interested in attending. If your senior needs a transcript sent after they have applied for admission, please complete the Transcript Request Form and submit it to the office.
SEMO DUAL ENROLLMENT/DUAL CREDIT STUDENTS
Finals and the end of the semester are quickly approaching. As soon as your end of the semester grade has been calculated (including the grade for your final if you had one) send a screenshot of the percentage grade and letter grade to Mrs. Elfrink at heather.elfrink@deltarv.k12.mo.us. Be sure to send this right away. The university closes access to the class soon after grades are posted, and we need your fall semester grade to include it on your high school transcript.
HOBY
The Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership seminar will be June 5-7 at Southeast Missouri State University. Registration fee is $395. Sophomores are eligible to attend. Student ambassadors participate in facilitated dialogue and abilities-based workshops to develop awareness of their leadership strengths and an understanding of their leadership values. To gather additional information about HOBY visit hoby.org/students. Sophomores who are interested in applying should contact the counselor by December 10.
COMMONWEALTH HONOR ACADEMY
The Commonwealth Honors Academy will be held June 6-June 27 at Murray State University. Upon completion of the Academy, students will receive 3 hours of university studies credit and an in-state full-tuition scholarship with a 3.5 cumulative GPA and a minimum 25 ACT Composite score. The Academy is open to those who have completed their junior year of high school, have a composite ACT of approximately 25 and a 3.5 GPA. MISSOURI YOUTH TOUR (SEMO ELECTRIC)
High-School Juniors are eligible for the Youth Tour, a leadership building trip to Washington D.C. Winners of the trip will meet with other students from Missouri and travel to the nation’s capital for a one-week trip (July 14-20) where participants hear national speakers and see many of the memorials and tour museums and historic sites like Mount Vernon. CYCLE YOUTH CONFERENCE (SEMO ELECTRIC)
The CYCLE Tour is for high-school sophomores or juniors and is a four-day (July 14-17) program in Jefferson City. The CYCLE program includes nationally known speakers, a day at the Missouri State Capitol, a tour of the Missouri State Penitentiary, a day tour of St. Louis, and education about electric cooperatives. Students will also get the chance to sit in the chamber of the Missouri House of Representatives and debate a bill just like our elected officials would. The trip is totally free. MISSOURI LEADERSHIP SEMINAR
The Missouri Leadership Seminar will take place May 29-May 31 on the University of Central Missouri campus. The Seminar offers group leadership opportunities along with conversations with professionals. Current sophomores who would like additional information should visit moleadership.com. Sophomores who would be interested in being nominated to attend should contact the counselor. Deadline for nominations is March 1.

If your child goes to any appointments please remember to bring a doctor’s note to the office to have that day excused. Example of appointments would be Doctor, Dentist and Counseling. Students are allowed 3 days excused with a parent calling in and then they need a doctor’s excuse.
