The last few years they have awarded 4 - $2,500 scholarships. Deadline to submit application to semofairscholarship@gmail.com is May 31. Must have been an exhibitor at the fair.

BLACK RIVER ELECTRIC YOUTH ESSAY CONTEST
Open to juniors. Submit an essay (500-1,000 words) on their designated topic by March 10. Complete an application & student profile. Forms are available in the office or at www.brec.coop. Nine finalists will be interviewed . 3 finalists will win a trip to Washington DC.

Parents, the line of storms is going to hit between 3:10-3:20. We are going to hold the buses and release them as soon as that passes (so probably 3:20-3:30). We don't want the buses out in straight line winds. So they will be about 15 minutes later than normal.

There is a tornado watch for our area right now. The FEMA Building will be open at 2 pm if anybody wants to come and wait out the storm.

Delta Pre-K students made sun catchers and gave a special message to all of our staff today: "Let your light shine!"







10th & 11th graders who aren't currently attending the Cape CTC & would like to next year, need to sign up on the sheet outside the counselor's office & submit their paragraph explaining why they want to attend by the end of Advisory on Thurs. Feb. 23. Have questions about the CTC, please call or email Mrs. Elfrink.

All sophomores & juniors who don’t currently attend the CTC but want to next year, will tour the Cape CTC & MAC campus on Tuesday, Feb. 21. Signed permission slips are due tomorrow. We will leave at 8:15 & return at 12:30. We will eat at McDonald’s. A grant will cover up to an $8 meal. Parents can meet us at the CTC.

CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY FARM BUREAU is offering a $500 scholarship for a senior who intends to study agriculture or a related field. The student or their parent must be a Cape County Farm Bureau member. Deadline for completed applications to be in the Jackson office is April 7. Application in senior mailboxes.

The AMI days will be used to make up the days missed for inclement weather. All work assigned must be completed when your child returns to school for it to count towards their attendance.

The board of education has modified the school calendar. The following days will be AMI (Alternative Method of Instruction) days: February 20th, March 13th and 31st, and April 10th. Work will be sent home or posted on google classroom for each day. Students will not physically attend those days.

Spring pictures tomorrow, Feb. 17. CTC & SAE students arrive at 8:30am. HS students need to bring club shirts & uniforms for basketball, track, baseball, & softball to wear in group photos. Sports photo order forms were handed out today. Spring pictures can be ordered when prints are returned.


The boys and girls basketball teams will begin district play next week. The Ladycats are the #1 seed and their district will be played at Naylor. The Bobcats are the #2 seed and will play their district tournament at Zalma.
